These numbers are almost magical to me. Last Tuesday I drove to Munich to see OwlCity, Breanne Duren and Unicorn Kid live in concert.
So I got off a little earlier from work than usual in order to avoid the rush hour on the highway since I wanted to be there on time. I got home, took a shower, packed my stuff hugged my mom and took off at exactly 3pm. The concert began at 7.30am and doors open was at 6.30pm. So I had good 3h to get to Munich, which is normally plenty of time. Clever as I was I wrecked the charger of my navigation system just a day before so I had just half the battery left. Getting to a big city on the highway is not a problem at all, but finding different streets and houses in Munich without a navigation system definitely is! Oh boy, I made it to Munich which is about 200km away from Stuttgart in 1h 50min which is a good time. I had to pick up Nadine which was my company for the evening and therefor I had to drive another 8.5km to her place. Believe it or not this 8.5 firkin kilometer took me over 45 minutes! I was pissed as hell, construction site here, fucking thousands of cars there and right as I turned into her street my navigation system died. Great.
So I picked her up and then the big search began. Long story short and a few detours later, at around 6.40pm we made it to the concert location. Finally! I still kind of pissed packed my DSLR and we hurried to the doors where two really dangerous looking security men welcomed us. They saw my DSLR and one of them was like ‘Stop boy, you can’t take this cam with you, it’s professional equipment and bla bla…’ I tried to convince him that it’s not but I had to bring it back to the car. Which is also the reason there are no fucking pictures of the evening. Thanks big bad guy! Silly me, I left my point and shoot cam where? At home! Safe and cozy. I still wonder how so weird things can happen all the time to me?
Anyway, we got into the location which is called ‘Backstage Werk’ and it’s really cool there, I’ve been there before for the Boyce Avenue concert last year.
As we walked in I was surprised that only round about 50 people were already in there. We stood right in front of the stage. Excellent view included! So everything went better then expected!
At around 7.30pm the concert began with Breanne Duren. I didn’t knew here before so I was blown away by her voice and her look. She’s beautiful and a real babe. She was wearing a super cute dress and just looked flawless. She played a few songs and I instantly loved it. Her music is great!

Unicorn Kid.
Well. He just rocked the shit out of the house. I’m not even overacting. The energy he had and his music absolutely heated up the crowd. The people got crazy and jumped and danced like there is no morning! What a huge contrast to Breanne Duren. I loved it! I never heard before of him nor his music. But again, after a few seconds I found myself loving his stuff so hard. His music is crazy, wild and free. I just love it. You can hear some stuff here. After he played 5 songs I was already completely soaked because everybody was dancing like crazy. And it got hot as hell in there.
I can’t remember the time when Owl City finally got up on the stage but it was beautiful. It looked almost like this:
They had a lot of smoke and all the lights were out so you could barely see anything. The the crowd started screaming and the lights went on and then the whole crew was standing on the stage. Adam began to say something like ’ Hello Munich.. it’s nice to be here and we’re called OWL CITY…’ then they played the first song. I guess it was ‘the real world’ or something. It was just wonderful seeing them in person and playing this fantastic music! The contra bass and the violin..it was just kind of magical.
Adam is such a cutie in person. He also has a great voice and is just incredibly charming. He also dances awkwardly cute which makes it even better and I guess anyone who has seen him in real life knows what I’m talking about. Most of the songs he played were from the ‘All things bright and beautiful’ EP but they also played ‘Hello Seattle’ , ‘Saltwater room’ and plenty more. To make it short, we had a blast.
Oh and Breanne Duren was playing the keyboard and so it happened that she looked straight at me when I formed a heart with my hands and then pointed from me to her. She stood there, burst a smile and nodded with her head towards me. It was incredible. I mean have you seen her? ASDFGHJKL!!!! Also one time after a song when everything got quiet I screamed at the top of my lungs ‘Adam we love you’ and he just smiled and said I love you too guys. ASDFGHJKL!! You know what I mean? Happy me. Happy me. That’s all I can say about it.
All good thing have come to an end. So this concert. They played two extra songs and that was it. My second OWL CITY concert was over. I regret nothing. It was amazing and I loved every second of it. I bought myself the EP from Breanne Duren and Unicorn Kid and both singed it for me. Unicorn Kid also gave me High Five! (:
On our way back home, on the highway, I talked with Nadine about the concert and she loved it too. She didn’t knew any of them. Not even OWL CITY I mean … seriously? But she said that she also had a blast and she really enjoyed it. So we talked for hours and got home safe.
Yeah, that basically was my Tuesday night. I hope you like my little story and I could give you a little insight in an OWL CITY concert. If you have the chance to see them, do it!
